  • Transition to net zero by 2050 will be driven in the main through the increased electrification of the global energy system.
     

  • This increased electrification will be achieved primarily from renewable energy sources with wind and solar being the key renewable technologies. 
     

  • This transition will require an increase in renewable generation from 2,500GW today to over 27,700GW by 2050 according to the IRENA World Energy Transition Outlook March 2021.
